BCA has great pleasure in making available to care providers the new and updated Adult Common Induction Standards Workbooks for Health and Social Care 2009.  These workbooks have been updated to take account of the revised Common Induction Standards as published by Skills for Care.

There are two workbooks, one for the new employee and one for the manager.  The manager’s copy is a carbon copy of the employee’s workbook except that there are suggested answers to the questions at the end of each section. The workbooks should be seen as templates that you can tailor to your own setting, and have been published in MS Word for this purpose. Also included is guidance issued by Skills for Care on how the common induction standards are linked to the NVQ framework, and glossary.

Those providers, who are familiar with original 2006 workbook, will notice a comprehensive updating of material, as well as a whole new section on Safeguarding Adults.

Updating the workbooks has been a joint project between Berkshire Care Association and representatives from Bracknell, Windsor and Maidenhead, Wokingham and Reading unitary authorities, and has been funded by Skills for Care.

In the next few weeks all Elderly, Nursing and Domicilary Care Providers will be emailed these booklets and will also received a CIS CD which will include not only these documents but also a Skills  for Care completion certificate that you can present to your staff. We hope you find this information will assist you in inducting your staff and raising the standards of care you provide to your service users.

Kind Regards

   BCA
